Health Questions & Answers

Our 1 year old Siberian Husky has the dark spots, redness, loss of fur (all in the crease areas like between his legs and under his arms. We've been using Neosporin on it and it clears up, then comes out in another area. He's been wearing the cone collar so that he can't bite. Does this seem to be allergy related - maybe the food? Also, this product (Derma-IonX) why should someone need to order months supply at a time. Does this not cure the condition or does it only relieve the symptoms? Thank you.  -Clare-

Dear Clare,

You might want to look at two of our products, Derma-IonX and Defendex shampoo to help heal the skin. Derma-IonX which is an oral homeopathic product stimulates the enzyme systems in the body which reduces itching and inflammation, promotes healing of the skin and helps with assimilation of nutritional components in diet and supplements. The supplements I use along with it include Canine probiotics, vitamin C, MSM, and Omega 3,6,9. Together with Derma-IonX it produces a synergistic effect for a faster response.

I would also suggest that you give your dog only filtered water for drinking and bathing if your water contains chlorine or fluoride. Sometimes food is part of the problem. For the dietary modifications you might want to try a grain free diet for a while. Healing the body from allergies can take a while and so that is why it is advisable to buy more than one bottle. After the body is healed you would not need to give Derma-IonX or just occasionally. Treating with steroids is faster but does not get to the root of the problem and eventually loses effectiveness. With time dogs often become allergic to more and more things.

Defendex shampoo is nontoxic and soothes the skin. Using both products is a simple and effective way of helping resolve a difficult condition. Please feel free to contact us again if you have any other questions.

Best wishes,

Dr. Char
