My dog has some kidney issues. I noticed one of the ingredients was phosphorus. Can I give this safely to my dog. Her BUN was 40 when I took her to the vet today for a checkup. I have given it to her since receiving the product 3 days ago. My vet says her BUN was higher than the last time. We were giving her 1/2 tsp twice a day but she does seem to be doing better with her arthritis symptoms. -Joyce-

Dear Joyce,

Since it is homeopathic there is little Phosphorus in it so it is safe to give. I would split the dose and give a 1/4 teaspoon twice daily on the food. With kidney issues giving probiotics and enzymes is especially helpful. And high quality protein in the diet is important. Low quality ones put stress on the kidneys. I hope you are giving fish oil, too. You might also consider giving a little Dia-IonX to help support the kidneys.

Please let us know how you do.
