Health Questions & Answers

Our 5 1/2 yr. old Brittany Spaniel has been fighting a skin issue for almost two years now. We have had her to three different vets who have tried various things from acupuncture to skin scrapings. She (Brindi) has been on antibiotics, prednisone, and topical applications. The last vet told us that Brindi has a bacterial infection secondary to an allergic response. He told us that allergy testing could be done, but unfortunately it is expensive and may not reveal the root of the problem....We cannot afford to shell out hundreds of dollars, only to not be any further ahead with a solution. I found this website by accident, and ordered the Derma-IonX. We started Brindi on it 2/9, and so far, the belly has cleared up, but her legs are still a mess. She scratches and bites at her legs. The areas are red and scaly-looking. We are hopeful that her legs will also respond to the Derma-IonX, but should we be doing something else as well? She is currently on Taste of the Wild (Salmon) dog-food. We tried the ZD-Ultra for April through August, with no change in the skin. We also pulled up our wool rug for a length of time, but also no change in the skin.....Any thoughts? I plan to keep her on the Derma-IonX since her belly has improved while on it, with the hope that her legs will also respond. Will I have to keep her on this for the rest of her life since we don't know the origin of her allergy? Thank you for your time and expertise. -Anne-

Dear Anne,

Your goal will be to heal the gut to improve the allergies. Once that is accomplished you wouldn't need to give Derma-IonX. The supplements I recommend to be used in conjunction with Derma-IonX are Canine Probiotics, MSM, vitamin C, and Omega 3,6,9. That is what I start with and sometimes add more things if it becomes necessary.

Have you tried giving a half dose of Derma-IonX twice daily with breakfast and supper? As things improve further you can go back to a whole dose once a day. Please keep us updated. Thank you.

Best regards,

Dr. Char
