Our dog has been on several meds for itching. We bought Derma-Ionx and it worked pretty good for about a week and a half and as most of things we have tried she seems to get "immune" to it and starts itching again. We do not want to pump our dog full of steroids and we were so hopeful that this product Derma-IonX would work. We are also concerned about these steroid injections that people have gotten and ended up with meningitis. Our dog had a steroid injection about 3 weeks ago and we are very concerned that this could happen to her also. Do you have any suggestions? -Mary-

Dear Mary,

Holistic medicine is not suppressive like steroids which act quickly. It takes time to heal. It takes longer if you have already used drugs.

It is also important to use the following supplements; probiotics, and fish oil. Together with Derma-IonX it produces a synergistic effect for a faster response.

Also we suggest that you give your pet only filtered water for drinking and bathing if your water contains chlorine or fluoride. Provide a grain free diet using turkey or fish formula as the protein, avoid any type of chicken formula. The chicken protein can actually cause skin to "warm" increasing the intensity of itchiness and skin discomfort.

Best regards,

Dr. Char
