My Yorkie received shots today and is kind of sore. How much benedryl should I give her? She turned a year old in October, 2012. -Kandy-

Dear Kandy,

The dose for Benadryl in dogs is 2 mg per pond of body weight, but I have never needed to use that much. Usually a quarter of a dose works fine. Instead of using 10 mg, keeping it low like 2 or 3 mg would be better. She will probably want to sleep a lot. Hope she feels better soon.
