We found a male yorkie tied up at an emtpy house, and since we do not have any type of city dog care in our town, my 7 yr old grandson and I took him to our house.  We gave him a bath, bought him everything he needed to help him feel at home. My problem is I don't know how much to feed him. I bought can food because he looks like he's an older dog and he couldn't eat dry dog food. I need some help to make sure he gets all that he needs but that I'm not over feeding him.  -Lenda-

Dear Lenda,

Foods have different caloric density. Generally it is best to follow label directions and then adjust the amount slightly depending upon weight gain or loss, or begging due to hunger. You might try about 4 oz. of canned food twice daily if he weighs about 6 pounds, but read your label, too. Hope it goes well.

Best regards,
