Health Questions & Answers

Hi Dr. Wilson: My sweet boy Duke is 12 yrs old and has for the past 2 yrs shows signs of dragging his back legs. Its not to bad but noticeable. He also is very, very slow in getting up, but once up is ok. He still has some spunk to him as he tries to keep up with his buddy who is a little active 6 yr old. My concern is that I know he is having some inflammation, pain, and swelling at the end of a day. I just DON'T WANT HIM TO SUFFER. He does some slight moaning at times. I have him on a joint supplement with MSM. I just read about the Arthro-IonX and it sounds good as well. Could I give him both of these products and would it help in all the areas of pain, swelling, and inflammation that is going on in his hips and legs??? I'll do anything for him. I just DON'T WANT HIM TO BE IN PAIN. Thank you so much for your time. Sincerely, Tanya

Dear Tanya,

You can use Arthro-IonX and your joint supplement together. In addition it is helpful to give Canine Probiotics with each meal, Omega 3,6,9, and vitamin C daily. (We carry the first two and the other one you can get at a health food store.) For German shepherds I also recommend a choline/ B vitamin supplement such as Geri-Form to help nerve function to the rear end. The oligotherapeutic mineral base found in the IONX products helps the body to better utilize the other nutritional substances given for a synergistic response and faster healing.

Also be sure to give sufficient fresh water that is free of chlorine and fluoride. If you can gradually phase into a grain free diet that can be helpful too or at least avoid GMO grains. The other thing that is sometimes beneficial is to have a certified veterinary chiropractor check for spinal alignment and make any corrections as necessary.

Please let us know how you progress or if you have any other questions.

Best wishes,

Dr. Char
