Health Questions & Answers

I have a 56lb 11 year old female dog who is now taking Rimadyl for arthritis and Proin 75mg for incontinence. She hates them, and I am trying to switch her to natural medication. I want to verify that your products are holistic?  Could I just switch her off the medication she is getting now to your medication? Your quick response would be appreciated as she is running out and I need to know so I can make a decision on ordering. -Viata-

Dear Viata,

You may use Arthro-IonX along with other medications or supplements. It is homeopathic in nature and so it will not negatively interact with other physical substances. You can use Rimadyl along with Arthro-IonX to provide comfort while healing is occurring. Healing takes more time than just suppressing symptoms. Arthro-IonX helps to stimulate healing. In addition, I find it helpful to follow a holistic approach by giving some nutritional supplements to accompany Arthro-IonX. The supplements I recommend are Canine Probiotics, MSM, Vitamin C, and Omega 3,6,9. Arthro-IonX will help the body to better utilize the nutrition for a synergistic response.

Arthro-IonX and Promaxol both offer pain relief, but I would try reducing your Rimadyl dosage and weaning her off rather than abruptly stopping. I would keep her on the Proin so that you only eliminate one thing at a time. I would also suggest you have her evaluated by a veterinary chiropractor. Pressure on the nerves of the lower back can affect incontinence. I also use a B vitamin/choline supplement called Geri-Form to improve nerve function whenever there is rear end weakness or diminishing function. After you do the above then you might want to try her without the Proin.

Please let us know how you progress or if you have any other questions.

Best wishes,

Dr. Char
