I have a 12 yr old dog that was diagnosed with diabetes and I cannot afford to have her treated so I started using the Dia-IonX. It has made some difference in her energy level and she is not as thirsty and seems to have gained a little weight but seems to be losing her eyesight. How long should I realisticly expect that the Dia-Ionx to help her without having her treated? I have changed her food to high protein, grain free but what type of treats can I give her? Thank you. -Rita-

Dear Rita,

It is hard to predict how well your dog will do. Sometimes there are other health issues that are contributing to the diabetes.

In addition to Dia-IonX which I would give as a half dose twice daily on her food, I would also give Canine Probiotics, MSM, Vitamin C, and Omega 3,6,9. For treats I would get turkey hotdogs and cut them into nickel sized pieces and bake them in the oven. They store better cooked. If she likes to chew you can use carrot sticks.

Exercise is important in lowering blood glucose by moving it from the blood into the muscles. I hope you can take her for a daily walk and get some fresh air and sunshine.

Please keep us updated.
