Maltese suffers from back leg displacement

Dear Dr. Wilson, My 10 yr old Maltese suffers from back leg joint displacement. Comes in and out occasionlly. I am reaching out to you regarding traditional medicine vs. homeopathic medicine. My vet recommend Cosequin. I know you recommend something different and would you please let me know the benefits of the treatment that you recommend. What are your ingredients? What are the side effects if any? My Maltese has an autoammune. He does not take any medications. We use topical cream when needed for his dry spots. What is the cost? Look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Harrise

Dog has severe skin issue, please help!

We adopted a labrador-retriever mix, in August of 2011.  She was heartworm positive, and was going to be put down.  We decided to give her a chance.  Since after her miticide injections, she has had very bad skin.  I mean, awful!!!  Shes been getting shots, but we don't want to keep doing that. They say the heartworm treatment weakens the immune system.  Would love some suggestions, we read about Neem Oil, does that help?  Thanks -Tracy-

Giving Supplements To Dog Diagnosed with Cancer

My boxer was diagnosed with a tumor in his neck area. Vet tells me no operation will help and she would not like to even do a biosy? Reason is fear of spread which will result in a faster and painful death which is not needed. I refused to do the chemo as I went through that with another Boxer. So I looked to supplements as I do believe in these and my vet also agreed with what I am giving him. I started out with giving him Zeolite Liquid enhanced w/D.H.Q. 2 drops in food twice a day, Zeolite powder 2 scoops in food twice a day.  N.H.V.( contains burdock, sheep sanel, slippery elm, Chinese rhubarb), Vitamin D3,C.A.P. Option (mushroom extract for dogs), Hydrogen peroxide(food grade) 6 drops in water, shark cartilage, I.P.6-Inositol hexaphosphate2 x a day. I started these supplement's back in September of 2012 went back to Vet for observation of my boxer. Vet could not believe how well he looked and thought some of the swelling went down in his neck but still thought tumor was the same size but not bigger. Told me to keep doing what I was doing . Went back to Vet 2 months later for another observation of Digger (my boxer) still looking good and tumor still the same size, not any smaller. Some days he will eat good and other times just pick. I am feeding him all Holistic and grain free food.  Went back for third observation with vet and still looking good and rest of lymph nods felt OK come back in 2 months.  I was concerned that I was hitting a brick wall that the supplements I was giving him were just holding there own maybe.? I started doing more research on cancer killing supplement's. I came across two other supplement's, Graviola 2 x a day 4 pills 650 mg, Turmeric formula 1 a day, along with a Probiotic once a week. I also have stopped giving him the zeolite powder. To me it seems that this tumor is cutting off or chocking him because he at times will cough, and gag at times. He does not throw up, and his stools are good. not runnie, his nose is running and his eyes look kind of red as if he has a hangover. He plays runs jumps just like before and does not seem to breath heavy. The tumor is not getting smaller is there anything else I can give him or stop giving him so as to start killing these cancer cells. My boy is only 5 yrs old he weights 70 lbs and is not loosing weight.  Looking for more knowledge -Ty-

I was wondering if I could soak the Promaxol up on a little piece of bread, and give as a treat?  You didn't say if dogs seem to like the taste or not?  -Sue-

Dog with skin allergy

I have a 12 year old  Westie that suffers from yeast skin infections (turns black) causing her to itch and chew.  She has been on Atopica for years but I am not comfortable with drug chemicals ans she gets sick. With a loss of a job I am trying to find a more affordable treatment that is less harsh. Will Vetionx help her condition?  I am going to start bathing with Nizorol and I also found an herbal remedy called Allergy itch. Please advise.

Dog is Diabetic

Our 9 yr old YorkiPoo was diagnosed with diabetes in December 2012.  We started 2 shots of insulin daily for 1 month; weekly bloodtests. Increase in dosage(3 to 5 units) because glucose levels were not responding. It became so stressful I had to muzzle my dog in the parking lot of the vets office so he wouldn't bite. He started to growl & tried to bite me one day-that was about a month ago.  (I stopped giving him shots then) We started the DiaIonx Feb 7th (1/2 tsp day, then increased to 3/4 tsp Feb 21) It has helped with thirst and urination issues. He still appears to be losing weight. He eats 3/4 cup twice day of W/D Prescription food. I also check his urine daily - usually 200-500 range; neg-small ketones. Appetite is good. Normal behavior, sleeping more than usual. Can you recommend a high-calorie snack or additive to his food that would not effect glucose level? Or any other suggestion that would increase body fat. His weight was 12lbs last month, normally 17-18lbs. Thank you.

Dog with bacterial infection secondary to allergic response

Our 5 1/2 yr. old Brittany Spaniel has been fighting a skin issue for almost two years now. We have had her to three different vets who have tried various things from acupuncture to skin scrapings. She (Brindi) has been on antibiotics, prednisone, and topical applications. The last vet told us that Brindi has a bacterial infection secondary to an allergic response. He told us that allergy testing could be done, but unfortunately it is expensive and may not reveal the root of the problem....We cannot afford to shell out hundreds of dollars, only to not be any further ahead with a solution. I found this website by accident, and ordered the Derma-IonX. We started Brindi on it 2/9, and so far, the belly has cleared up, but her legs are still a mess. She scratches and bites at her legs. The areas are red and scaly-looking. We are hopeful that her legs will also respond to the Derma-IonX, but should we be doing something else as well? She is currently on Taste of the Wild (Salmon) dog-food. We tried the ZD-Ultra for April through August, with no change in the skin. We also pulled up our wool rug for a length of time, but also no change in the skin.....Any thoughts? I plan to keep her on the Derma-IonX since her belly has improved while on it, with the hope that her legs will also respond. Will I have to keep her on this for the rest of her life since we don't know the origin of her allergy? Thank you for your time and expertise. -Anne-

Dog with Knee Injury

My dog was diagnosed as having a possible tear in her knee via x-ray. She is a Boxer. I love my dog very much, however the surgery if needed is over $2000.00. I cannot afford this right now. Does Arthro-IonX work on this type of injury? The vet is not sure if there is an actual tear; he just said that there seemed to be some fluid on the knee. What can I do? Thank you. -Cindy-
