RECALL: Pedigree Weight Management Dog Food

By Bri Luginbill More Blogs by This Author

Welcome to The Kibble!
This week: Pedigree recalled their weight management canned dog food products.

Recently, Pedigree had been receiving complaints about PEDIGREE® Weight Management canned dog food products from customers. Several people had found pieces of plastic mixed in within their pet’s food!

Employees at Pedigree checked into the complaints and confirmed that a blue plastic substance had accidentally fallen into the food during the manufacturing process. They issued a voluntary recall to all pet owners and pet food facilities. Stop and Shop and Giant Food were two of the first to take the product off their shelves.

I think it’s great that the company responded right away. Pedigree made sure to explore the claims –and discovered they were true! While ideally, this should have never happened, mistakes do happened and this voluntary recall was definitely an example of the way a pet food company should handle them.
