As dog owners, we know our pets need consistent exercise and depending on their size and general disposition, some may need more physical activity than others. However, when all members of a household are busy, it can be difficult to ensure your dog is getting the attention he/she deserves. There’s dinner to cook, housework to do, kids to attend to, etc. So it’s not that surprising than many of us may have trouble cramming in an hour long dog walk every day.
Well, to combat this issue, some people have been catching on to a new trend – doggie treadmills! An astounding three million people utilize these exercise machines to give their dogs the exercise they need.
One of the most popular of these treadmills is called the DogPACER. The machine acts the same as treadmills designed for humans, but is manufactured to fit the length and size of a dog.

One owner, Heather Chau, said she absolutely loves the DogPacer. In fact, she says it helped her overweight rescue dog Heidi drop nearly 40 lbs!
"I want to make sure the rest of their lives are the healthiest we can make them. If the treadmill promotes a longer life, then it's easy to do it each day. Whatever they have been through is in the past. Whatever we can do now to help them lead a healthier, better life is worth it," Chau said.
Don’t get too excited though – these devices are not cheap! A DogPacer costs $499. Other pet treadmills, like Jog A Dog, cost $3,000. And if you want extra special treatment for your canine try the underwater treadmill for $40,000!
