Pooh the Poodle Saves Blind Woman From Gas Leak
Imagine having your own personal gas leak detector. Not the kind that runs on batteries, but sniffs out the source itself. Well, Nancy Jones, a resident of Talladega, Alabama, has experienced this kind of detection!
Nancy was folding laundry one day and suddenly felt terribly ill. She was blind and had a seeing-eye poodle named Pooh. Pooh tugged on her sleeve relentlessly, making Nancy wonder if she needed to go outside. She managed to get enough strength to grab her leash, which was only 6 feet away. As soon as the leash was latched on to Pooh’s collar, she led Nancy straight outside.
"The next thing I know Pooh was nudging me to put on her leash, [that] she went and got herself," said Nancy on ABC news, "Brought it to me, made me put it on her and literally drug me out the front door."
After breathing the fresh, outside air, Nancy realized the reason for her feeling ill was because she was breathing in gas from a leak in the house.
“Words can't describe, they really can't...
You don't realize how important these dogs are to visually impaired or the deaf or people who have seizures," Jones told ABC.
"She saved my life."
