The government who would feign freedom extends its reach, dictating policy in a land not of their own. They would do this in the name of democracy, for surely their truth is absolute.
Fundamentalism would rise upon the Five Points, solidifying fairy tales into facts and punishing those who wouldn't believe. A separate state would fund this separate church of movement and form, a rally cry of manipulation.
Those who would bring life to the world are given voice to change it and men who would claim peace have their right to it revoked. A Vote upon the cold Draft, lost in the winds of gathering armies.
Three hundred years after invading the savage land, those who would call it home are granted the right to call themselves citizen. Citizen, but never equal.
In a move to keep the flow of money from war going, the government who would sell freedom passes legislation purporting talks instead of labor strikes. Not a single laborer is present to talk.
For the first time, the ivory tower collapses upon itself. The government sells people freedom and liberty in pursuit of distraction from the truth.
To recoup the loss of funds and stop a mirror image of their treachery, the government who would sell freedom dives once more into the breach. He is a madman! He is insane! He is we. He is us.
Fear grips the men of power and the time of the black bag rises. Atoms split over Japan, even as they lay beaten. The truest expression of equality is beaten down with paranoia and primal fear. The nations unite and the Frigid war begins, all because of a government that would sell freedom to the people.
Yet another war draws to an end. The natives of the savage land have their sovereignty stripped further while those who would be free begin to fight for the same, ignorant to this governing bodies version.
A country that would be free looks to the sky as they return another great man to the Earth. Murdered he was, as were all the "changers" before him. Briefly, a glimmer of collective hope reigns, fueled by an adventure that may not lead to the extermination of an entire culture.
An entire culture LookS to the aiD of imagination in the hopes that it may forgo seeing the reality of a nation consumed by power. In their seeking, they find love and hope in the arms of one another. Those men in power quake in fear over this discovery.
This country of industry turns upon itself and reaps what it has sown. The mighty industry seeks impoverished nations for a work force, leaving those who would be free to fend for themselves. Crooks indeed...
The personal computer falls into the hands of the people and the age of mass distraction begins. Heads turn from atrocity to entertainment, from care to complacence.
371 years after driving those native to the savage land far into the abyss of cultural depravity, the government who would sell freedom allows them their religious practice once again.
Morality is sold in line with freedom as religion furthers its grip on the burgeoning country called America. The ship now righted on a path of ignorance, the government locks up those who would be free in an effort to eliminate dissent.
The government who would sell freedom goes on the warpath. Those whose gods may differ in interpretation and those who sit on mounds of gold beware, for the war will be fought across generations.
The government who would sell freedom spends until the outlook is good, only to find the well dry and the people starving. In their musings, these great men find nothing of care, for the gap has widened and with it, their power.
The Tenth Crusade marches on as the government who would sell freedom greedily drinks down the lifeblood of those who would dare be different. Its people left far behind now, a wavering leave in the fall wind.
A nation shudders as it watches from behind a screen. The world is coming apart at the seems, and their government who would sell them freedom, bickers like children from atop their hill.
Faith has been shaken and hope is fading fast, for their is no savage land to conquer any longer, there is no far off paradise to settle, that they may escape the corruption feeding on their very being. The people weep as the land of the free begins to rust and the hypocrisy it was built upon begins to shine through.
Americans no longer, only humans in a struggle survive, as it has been from the beginning.
