Sinus infections are common for me. I am not exactly sure why, but it seems like I am very susceptible to contracting them. Most of the ones I got could not be cured with antibiotics because they were viral infections. As a home remedy I started rinsing out my sinuses. I did this using an off-brand version of the Neti Pot, where I mixed salt and warm water into a plastic pot. Then, I ran the water through my nose.

I’ll admit, the first time I did this I was very nervous. I don’t like sticking things up my nose. Things aren’t supposed to be put go there! However, after the first rinse, it left me feeling refreshed. For about 10 minutes, I could breathe through my nose again!

I use this even when I don’t have a sinus infection, but when my sinuses feel a little clogged. Has anyone else tried this remedy for viral sinus infections? Or what remedies have you tried?

Every time I get a cold, my dad tells me "You should use my Neti pot! It's awesome!" I have to admit, I still haven't tried it. The idea of it is hard to get behind - like you, I'm not too eager to stick things up my nose, haha. But I'm sure I'll try it one of these days. I don't get a lot of sinus infections, but sometimes my colds can get pretty miserable. I'll just have to get over my qualms! I'm sure the relief is worth it :)
