The debilitating condition known as Chronic Fatigue syndrome (CFS) can affect normal daily activities to become an exhaustive process for those feeling its symptoms. Its effects range from reducing a person's energy level, to making even normal daily activities become an exhaustive process. While the origins and causes of chronic fatigue syndrome are still unknown, the symptoms have been linked to stress, poor dietary effects, and illnesses with long-term effects. The effects of chronic fatigue syndrome can vary in length for an individual, ranging from a month, to a few years, to even several years after its onset. While chronic fatigue syndrome can affect anyone, women are more susceptible to its effects, resulting in a necessary change in routine and lifestyle
The Effects of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Chronic fatigue syndrome can have multiple effects on the body due to its weakening of a person's energy level and state of mind. Symptoms that originate from chronic fatigue syndrome include: Fatigue, cognitive difficulty, post-exertion fatigue, restlessness after sleep, depression, and flu-like symptoms. Without treatment, chronic fatigue syndrome can cause a long-term decline on the overall quality of life, and affect other functions in the body.
The Effects of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome on Women
Chronic fatigue syndrome is diagnosed two to four time more often in women than men for factors having to do with biological, psychological and social influences. While women are diagnosed more frequently with chronic fatigue syndrome than men, it is not known for certain if chronic fatigue syndrome affects more women than men. Researchers believe that a higher percentage of women may be more likely to discuss the symptoms of exhaustion with their doctors than men. Researchers have found that women are forty six percent more likely to call in sick to a job than men. After removing such conditions as family related factors, self reported chronic fatigue syndrome sufferers were one of the main reasons given why women are more likely to take a doctor certified sick leave from work. While the cause of chronic fatigue syndrome is still unknown, factors such as stress and depression are among the most commonly thought reasons.
Treating Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Treating the symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome is very important, especially in controlling the physical and psychological aspects. Other factors such as counseling can also relieve some of the symptoms, mood, and levels of discomfort. There are also alternative medicines (herbs and vitamin supplements), that have been used for teas and aromatherapy purposes to alleviate the effects of chronic fatigue syndrome. Various oils, dried extracts, glycerites and tinctures (ginseng, Echinacea, licorice, astragulus and Pau d-arco) have been used to stimulate and strengthen the immune system and adrenal glands.
Finding a Healthy Balance
Due to the unpredictable nature of chronic fatigue syndrome, each person can be affected differently. As with any health situation, it is important to check with a doctor to see which recovery techniques will prove to be the most effective. Remission chances increase through continued care adopting new routines based on the condition's limitations and through maintaining proper diet and exercise.
