Do you have any recommendations for a wet food for a diabetic cat? Age is 12 yrs. old, and the cat is on daily injections of Glargine. -Tim-

Dear Tim,

Usually a prescription diabetic food is recommended such as Purina DM. If the cat doesn't eat it that well a low carbohydrate canned food can be used. Diabetic cats should not be fed any dry food at all. Low carbohydrate canned foods that are nonprescription include Friskies Classic Pate Salmon, Fancy Feast - Savory Salmon Feast, Turkey and Giblets Feast, and White Meat Chicken Florentine. These are 2% or lower in carbohydrates.

Best regards,
