May Beauty Review

By Claire Franklin More Blogs by This AuthorFrom the Looking Good Blog Series

Right now, I’m telling you to forget everything you know about skincare. Forget all the media hype, all the expensive and glamorous products, and listen to me when I say I have found three of the most amazing products on shelves right now. I’m so excited to share this new information that I can’t type the words fast enough.

My first two finds deal with moisturizing and cleansing, which are the basic steps to younger, healthier skin. Neutrogena Naturals is a new product line that contains, “no harsh chemical sulfates, parabens, petrochemicals, dyes or phthalates.” To sweeten the deal, Neutrogena is a pretty trusted name and boasts dermatologist recommendations. So you can believe me when I say that everybody should be using this new line. And when I say everybody, I mean even those of you who have stubborn, sensitive, dry or acne-prone skin – like I do!

REVIEW:  Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Facial Cleanser

Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Facial CleanserLight-years ahead of Bare Minerals. Eliminated all, but my PMS breakouts.  Brightens and even out your complexion. Well worth the $10 it costs!

First of all, I have to make a quick comparison. In November 2012, I made my first-ever purchase from Bare Minerals (and spent a ton of money). I raved about these products because I thought they were so fantastic. But Neutrogena Naturals is light-years ahead of Bare Minerals.

The Purifying Facial Cleanser states right on the bottle that it “improves complexion for fresh, clear skin.” I can attest that the wash does in fact do this very thing. I can’t put into words how much trouble I’ve had with my skin since turning 30. I suffer worse and longer breakouts now than I did as a teenager. And my complexion is muddy; when I see women with porcelain-smooth faces, I envy them because my skin is an unattractive combination of yellowish hues and red blotches.

The Purifying Facial Cleanser has eliminated all of my breakouts, except those pesky monthly ones I still battle. And on the back of the label is a list of ingredients and its source, so you know exactly what you’re putting into your skin. For around $10 per bottle, you have to try this cleanser. Your complexion will be better and brighter before you know it.

REVIEW:  Neutrogena Naturals Multi-Vitamin Nourishing Moisturizer

Neutrogena Naturals Multi-Vitamin Nourishing MoisturizerDoes what it says - provides continuous moisture through the day. Doesn't clog pores. Fortified with vitamins. The dryness and tightness is gone!

Ditto with the moisturizer. Its official name is Multi-Vitamin Nourishing Moisturizer, and it claims to provide “continuous moisture nourishment throughout the day.” Again, I can assure you it does just what it’s supposed to do. I no longer endure flakes or tightness in my face because of this smooth, soft lotion. Moreover, the product doesn’t clog pores and is fortified with vitamins B, C and E. I’ll never use another daytime moisturizer again; this stuff is amazing. You’ll pay around $15 per bottle, but it’s worth every single penny.

REVIEW:  Rimmel Natural Bronzer

Rimmel Natural BronzerMy foundation alternative. Nice, natural glow that doesn't clog pores. At $5, it's a steal!

Finally, with summer coming, you might be shopping for a bronzer to help promote a sun-kissed glow. I have just the product for you, and it’s way cheaper than you might think. I’m talking about Rimmel Natural Bronzer from the Natural Minerals line.

Here’s how much I love this new bronzer: not only do I wear it every day, but I don’t even put powder or foundation on my skin because I don’t need it. All I wear is this bronzer, which is suitable for any skin type. It gives a nice, natural glow to cheeks (not orange!) and will not make you breakout. Because it’s so easy to apply and wear, you can brush a small amount across your cheeks and nose for a barely-there look, or you can apply a little more for a dramatic, nighttime look. And this container cost less than $5 from my local drugstore. Don’t pass up this find…you’re going to love how it looks for summer.
