REVIEW: Catwalk Volume Collection Your Highness Root Boost Spray

No residue or grease. Easy to apply foam. Pumps up the limpest locks.

Right now, forget everything you know (or think you know) about volumizing products for your hair. I have found something that could pump up even the limpest of locks: Catwalk Volume Collection Your Highness Root Boost Spray. I’ve been using this for about a week now, and I can’t believe the difference it’s made to my hair. I have the misfortune of possessing hair that’s completely flat on top and then bulges out around my head, not unlike a bell. It’s very unflattering, and I’ve tried many volumizing products in the past only to be sorely disappointed. This Catwalk selection, however, is unique because it actually works. It’s also incredibly easy to use; simply aim the nozzle at the root of your hair and spray. The product itself comes out in foam and is easily directed. Once you’ve separated your hair into various sections and gotten the roots of those areas that need attention, use a round brush and blow dry for some lift. And when I say lift, I really mean it. This spray leaves behind no residue, so hair doesn’t look flat or greasy. Moreover, you can style it anyway you want. Expect to pay about $15 for an 8.4-ounce bottle, but it’s worth every penny.

REVIEW: Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask

The face lotion I've been looking for. The Clinique product that changed my mind about Clinique products.

Years ago, I completely gave up on Clinique products because they did nothing for me. The makeup was mediocre and the skincare line further dehydrated my already-dry face. Thus, for years I wouldn’t buy anything with the Clinique label. I have since changed my mind because of one product: Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask. This is the face lotion I’ve wanted for most of my adult life. I apply it in the evening after washing my face, and it instantly soothes my parched skin. I can feel the moisture throughout the night and into the next morning, too. The best part is that it doesn’t cause me to break out like so many other face creams have. The mask is thick and rich, without fragrance to cause irritation. You’ll pay about $35 for 3.4 ounces, but you don’t need much lotion with each application. If you have dry skin, I highly recommend this soothing product.

REVIEW: Bath & Body Works Paraffin Super Softening Hand Lotion

On the fence. Works OK, but not as well as I'd like for the price.  I give it a B.

Speaking of lotion, my hands look like I gnaw at them from morning to night. They are dryer than ever, and they hurt. On a whim, I went into my local Bath & Body Works retail store and purchased Paraffin Super Softening Hand Lotion from the True Blue Spa line. I’m on the fence about this product. It’s pricey, $12 for 2.5 ounces, and while my hands feel relatively soft, the skin around my nails is still dry. All in all, if I had to give a grade, Paraffin would receive a B, mostly because of price.

REVIEW: Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede

Buttery soft suede feel.  No flaking or drying. I'm telling everyone about it!

I am 34 years old, and I’ve searched for the perfect lipgloss/lipstick for about 15 years. I’ve repeatedly tried those products that promise “all day wear,” only to find they flake after 30 minutes so I look like a freak. To add injury to insult, they dry my lips to the point I can’t wear anything except Chapstick for several days after. Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede, however, is something else entirely. This lip color goes on like suede, truly, and it feels like butter the entire time you wear it. No flaking, no drying, just pure color that is smooth and pretty. In other words, I love this product and am telling everyone I know about it. You can wear it alone or with lipgloss for a shiny finish, and it’s just about $7 per tube, which is pretty average. The ColorStay line has plenty of hues to satisfy any taste, and its finish stays true for several hours. Find this product and buy it, if you like lip color.
