MY 6 YEAR OLD IS HAVING ALOT OF TROUBLE IN SCHOOL CONCENTRATING AND DOING HIS ASSIGNMENTS, IS THERE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT I CAN DO TO HELP MY CHILD UNTIL HE GOES TO DR TO BE EVALUATED? AT HOME I CAN SIT WITH HIM AND KEEPHIM ON TASK BUT AT SCHOOL THE TEACHER HAS 3O KIDS IN CLASS SO SHE CAN'T GIVE ONE CHILD THAT MUCH ATTENTION OR SHE WOULD NEVER GET ASSIGNMENTS DONE.

Hi Kimberly!

What I would suggest first-off is that you sit down with his teacher and discuss your concerns. I doubt very much that he is the first 6 year old in her class to have trouble concentrating. She should have some ideas on what can be done to improve his classroom performance.

Beyond this, there are some simple lifestyle changes that have been shown to help improve focus. A healthy, balanced diet rich in vegetables and healthy fats to start. Limited sugary foods (including things like fruit juice) and processed foods. Plenty of water. A multi-vitamin to ensure a good balance of nutrients. Regular exercise and time spent outdoors. Limited screen time. 10-11 hours of sleep (based on his age) a night.

Hope this helps! :)

To piggy-back on Erin's comment, do your "homework" when selecting a good multi-vitamin; watch out for dyes/colors and avoid the high fructose corn syrup. For other foods, become a "label reader".

I would yes have him evaluated, talk with the teacher might help, take the other two comments into consideration, but also maybe consider Synaptol and B-Balanced DMG through HelloLife. He is above the age limit for these two remedies and I truly believe they work and it is a safer approach then traditional medicine in treating ADHD symptoms as well as deficiencies that result in social and behavior issues. Talking to his doctor about these issues and approaches is a good idea.

I know not everyone can homeschool, but this is one reason I love homeschooling my boys! We do have some staying on task issues so we will be trying some products from here!
