My dog was diagnosed with diabetes. I purchased the Dia-IonX for her. Does she need to be on insulin as well as the Dia-IonX or will the Dia-IonX work alone? Thank you for your help.

Read more…My Dog is Diabetic, Need Help
My dog has been through a lot the last couple of months. He was showing signs of pain in his neck area, as he was hunched over, pacing around and could not get comfortable. I took him to my vet and they thought it may be a disk issue. They gave him Prednisone, Tramadol and an antibiotic. Pain persisted so they sent me to a neurologist for my dog. He took blood tests to see if it was meningitis, and did a MRI. He ended up thinking it was a disk issue as well and operated on him. Pain persisted after operation. He then started treating our dog for meningitis with many medications which helped with neck pain issue but he is still on medications. Originally they put him on Baytril, Clindamycine, Gabapentin, Diazepam, Fentanyl patch, Amitriptyline, Cyclosporine, Famotidine. Now he is still on Gabapentin, Diazepam (when needed), Cclosporine and we are weening him off of Prednisone. However, I was told that because of all the medications, he has now been pushed into diabetes. He should be weened off of Prednisone by end of this week but has to continue to be on Gabapentin and Cyclosporine for several more weeks. As you can imagine, I am frustrated and angry that this has happened to my dog. Do you think Dia-IonX can help my dog?

Dear Dr Char. I have talked with you in the past about my 13 year old feline, Samson. He and his sister Delilah have been using your product for arthritis for over a year, and now my vet tells me that Samson has subluxation of both knees. He gets 16 drops of your Arthro-IonX daily but I am not sure if he doesn't need something else to go along with this routine for pain. Do you have another product that might be better for him. She tells me there is really nothing to do for his knees. He is also on Terbutaline for his asthma. He is wobbly in the hind end and sometimes he has trouble bending in the litter box. I hope you can give me some advice.

I have just started given our 12 1/2 lab Arthro-IonX once per day with her evening meal as she has a very bad arthritic elbow joint due to a very bad shoulder break 8 years ago. She is also allergic to quite a lot of stuff both being meds, foods and environment. My question is - she has to have Gabapentin twice a day, would this effect her ability to absorb the Arthro-IonX without an upset stomach?

Hello, ran across your website today. Looking for modifications to lower elevated blood sugar levels in my cat, Bandit. She has an Auto-immune Deficiency whose short name is Stomatitis. She was a stray whom I befriended, ultimately found that the steroid shots weren't going to cure the condition. She has been on a tiny dosage of L-Pred for the 13 years I've known her. She is at least 15 years. Can the Dia-IonX be used with the steroid? Her blood test 2 weeks ago came back elevated on the high end of normal, but indicating that she is developing diabetes, in my eyes, if not addressed. The vet thinks there is a good chance of reversal. Thank you for your input. Bandit is a valuable member of our family.

I have been checking our diabetic dog's urine for 2 months using Vetionx Ketone strips. 99% of the time the glucose is in the 200-500 range - it rarely goes from green(200) to total brown(500); trace ketone; negative protein. I give him 3/4 teaspoon Dia-IonX daily in 2 separate doses, canine probiotics, Prescription W/D food 1/2 cup twice daily, and I add carrots & chicken to this with 1/2 tsp olive oil) Should I continue checking his urine everyday? How do the animal strips compare to human urine glucose strips? He seems to be losing muscle mass-has problems with steps and can no longer jump up onto furniture. Is this to be expected? His thirst level seems to be better and he is not having frequent inside accidents. Thank you.

My mare is 295 days pregnant and has rotated coffin bone and very painful despite special shoes. I hate giving her bute. She is bagged and so I have her on Regimate to try to delay her foaling until the foal is viable. The vet recommends a deep flexor tendonotomy as soon as she foals. Is there anything other than bute to help with her pain? Is there anything else but the surgery. This all started with a stone bruise that two vets pared until the coffin bone was visable and then she developed osteomylitis. She recovered but has not been sound but not painful. She has rotated more while pregnany and become very lame. I feed grass hay and a low carb suppliment. I'm confused about vitamins and minerals and my vet offers no suggestions. I have started her on a hoof suppliment...farriers secret. Is it bad for the foal?? I have also started adding Mare Plus. Thank you for any suggestions. -Mary-

I'm interested in adding healthier vegetables into my diet, but have trouble with some of them. For me, pureed and mashed veg seem to be easier to handle, but soup and curry can only go so far. I recall seeing a recipe for mac 'n' cheese where carrot replaced part of the cheese sauce, and am hoping to find more recipes like that. Any suggestions?
